Visual display of Remembrance features 117,000 poppies as they cascade down Centre Block on Parliament Hill

Take a trip with me to Parliament Hill and watch this visual display of Remembrance featuring 117,000 poppies as they cascade down Centre Block on Parliament Hill.

To commemorate Remembrance Day, the Royal Canadian Legion, in partnership with Canadian Heritage, continues its special remembrance initiative again this year with the virtual Poppy Drop. Every evening from October 27 to November 11, a visual display of falling poppies is being projected onto the Centre Block on Parliament Hill. Over the course of the virtual display, 117,000 poppies—one for each of Canada’s fallen—will be projected. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the installation of the First World War Book of Remembrance in the Memorial Chamber, and the 75th anniversary of the turning of the page ceremony that has taken place every day since 1942. I invite you to take a virtual tour of the Memorial Chamber, the setting for the Books of Remembrance and the thousands of names recorded in them.
