Papal apology would implement Call to Action #58 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Please watch my video speaking in the House of Commons.

Call to Action #58 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission asks the Pope to deliver in Canada “an apology to Survivors, their families, and communities for the Roman Catholic Church’s role in the spiritual, cultural, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children in Catholic-run residential schools.”

On March 27, 2018, Bishop Lionel Gendron, president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, said in a statement that the Pope “felt that he could not personally respond” to the TRC’s Call to Action.
