I was pleased to join Senator Dennis Patterson for a portion of his #NunaTour2018 as he visits all 25 communities in Nunavut.

There are currently several major pieces of legislation and transformative federal policies that are being actively developed and considered by federal parliamentarians.  Some of those concerns include marijuana legalization, carbon pricing, arctic sovereignty, and the new Arctic Policy Framework. At the Nunavut Association of Municipalities meeting in December, 2017 in Iqaluit, Senator Patterson heard that community mayors were concerned about marijuana and the looming carbon tax.  As such, Senator Patterson is engaging with all levels of government and the grassroots on these topics.  Senator Patterson hopes to use these sessions to inform his position on legislation, identify topics of interest to Nunavummiut, and share his current and future initiatives.

It was my honour and privilege to travel with the Senator as we met with mayor and councils, business stakeholders and community groups.

This was truly an exceptional experience of a lifetime!
