News Release: Congratulations Brian Towriss, recipient of the Saskatoon-Grasswood Canada 150 Award

Brian Towriss coached Huskie football for 33 years and was recently inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.  He has more wins than any other Canadian university football coach, was named CIS Coach of the Year and has won three Vanier Cup Championships.  Brian coached his players with integrity, honesty, and rock solid values.  He treated his players the way he wanted to be treated; with respect.  Brian never lost sight of the fact that the players he coached were student athletes.  Brian coached to win, to have fun, and prepare his players for life after football.  He is a recipient of the Order of Merit from the Government of Saskatchewan, the province’s highest honour.  Brian will tell you that the success of the Huskie football program is because of the people around him; the players, the assistant coaches and support staff.  His student athletes played for the love of the game and Brian coached for the same reason.  Brian Towriss, a legendary coach, whose contributions to Canadian football and our community, are remarkable.
