Celebrating Eid al-Fitr

Today, Muslim Canadians will be celebrating the end of Ramadan, known as Eid al-Fitr. After a month of fasting, reflection, and rededication to faith, many Muslims will gather and feast together.
Ramadan is a way for Muslims to strengthen relationships with families and friends. Many of the Ramadan practices also reflect the values of all Canadians, such as maintaining the importance of family, and giving back to the community.

With 6 per cent of the Canadian population practicing Islam, Muslims are an important part of our Canadian family, and have contributed so much to our shared heritage. I encourage all Canadians to learn more about Islam and the rich and diverse history of Muslim Canadians.

I would like to wish you a happy Eid al-Fitr!
