Bonanza Restaurant Fire – Statement in the House of Commons

A Saskatoon landmark went up in flames Tuesday night. The Bonanza restaurant a fixture on 8th street for the last 45 years suffered over 2 million dollars in damages from a fire that took over 6 hours to extinguish.
Many thanks go out to the Saskatoon fire dept. who responded with 4 engines arriving within 2 minutes of the call.
Gary Baba, who has owned the restaurant for the past 21 years is shattered. He arrived on the scene at 4am to find 25 staff members huddled outside sharing their grief. The buffet style restaurant was a beloved institution for generations of families.
Baba gave many students their first job. Customers of all ages were part of the big Bonanza family. Hundreds of people took to social media this week sharing their fond memories. Gary, on behalf of all Saskatonians, we share your grief!
